Our programs rely on the help of parent and community volunteers like you. Becoming a volunteer coach is a great way to enrich the lives of your children and other young people in our community. As a volunteer coach you are a mentor to a whole team of young people, teach skills and create memories that will stay with your players for a lifetime. You become an important part of their youth sport experience. As a head coach, when you register, the fee for one child is waived once the steps below are completed. Thank you for taking the time to volunteer with us.

In order to become a volunteer coach you will need to:
  1. Complete the volunteer/coach application.
  2. Attend or complete the Sport Specific Coaches Training programs.
  3. National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) Coaches Training program. (online fee is $20 or attend one at the YB for no cost) www.nays.org/coaches. Complete an on-line background check with “Protect Youth Sports” fee is $12.50, https://opportunities.averity.com/ithacayouthbb
  4. Attend sport specific coach’s organizational meeting.
  5. Contact Gordy Begent at gbegent@cityofithaca.org for meeting dates and information
